Najib trial: Malaysia ex-PM faces court in global financial scandal

Malaysia’s former Prime Minister Najib Razak is set to stand trial for his role in a financial scandal that has sent shockwaves around the world.
Mr Najib is accused of pocketing $681m (£522m) from the sovereign wealth fund 1MDB. He denies any wrongdoing.
The fund was meant to boost Malaysia’s economy through strategic investments.
Instead, money from it was allegedly used to fund lavish lifestyles, a Hollywood film and a superyacht.

Austria’s ousted leader vows to win his job back after no-confidence vote

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz was ousted by parliament in a no-confidence vote Monday. A new election is already planned for September and President Alexander Van der Bellen needs to appoint a caretaker government to serve until then. But 32-year-old Kurz, who became Europe’s youngest leader when he was sworn into office in 2017, has vowed that he and his center-right People’s Party would return to power with increased strength. Madonna defends ‘disturbing’ gun massacre video

Today Entertainment News : Madonna has defended a graphic music video depicting a nightclub massacre, saying people need to understand “this is what happens when people shoot”. The pop superstar’s song God Control calls for people to “wake up” about the reality of gun violence in the US. The scenes in the music video recall the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida, where 49 people were killed. Pulse survivor Patience Carter said she was “truly disturbed” by the video. The eight-minute video shows actors playing revellers being shot and lying lifeless and covered in blood in a fictional nightclub called The Globe. “There are so many creative avenues that could’ve been taken to bring awareness to gun control.
