Mozambique church a refuge for Muslim cyclone survivors


PEMBA, Mozambique – Next to a marble pulpit inside a Catholic church, a young Muslim girl chases around with other children.
The church has become a home for her and nearly 1,000 others from different faiths as they wait out the aftermath of Mozambique’s latest devastating cyclone.
Situated in the heart of this predominantly Muslim but diverse city ravaged by Cyclone Kenneth, the Maria Auxiliadora parish houses those displaced by the storm in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique’s northernmost province.
“We don’t ask about people’s religions, human life is all we value,” Father Ricardo Filipe Rosa Marques, the 41-year-old priest in charge, told The Associated Press.

NASA Says Fraudulent Supplier Caused It to Lose Two Climate Satellites, Wasting Over $700 Million

NASA has found its loss of two 92-foot Taurus rockets—as well as the climate-monitoring satellites they were carrying—in 2009 and 2011 was due to a supplier that falsified test data about frangible joints that were supposed to split and release the rockets’ fairings, according to Quartz. Porto goalkeeper Casillas suffers heart attack but is in stable condition

Porto tweeted a message of support to Casillas followed by a statement confirming the goalkeeper is in stable condition. “Iker Casillas suffered a heart attack during a training session on Wednesday morning, at the Porto training centre in Olival,” a statement read. “The session was brought to a prompt end to attend to the Porto goalkeeper, who is now at the CUF Porto Hospital. “Casillas is well, stable and with the heart problem having been resolved.” Former club Real Madrid also released a statement on Casillas’ behalf, as well as Real’s eternal rivals Barcelona, the Portuguese League, and Spain’s La Liga.
